Are you a foreign citizen looking to live in Indonesia? Whether for business, work or investment, you’ll need a visa. There are several types of visa in Indonesia tailored to various purposes.
But, for business, work, and investment, here are three key types of visas you should know about:
1. Indonesia Business Visa
The first type is Indonesia Business Visa. This visa allows you to conduct business activities in Indonesia. Such as business negotiations, signing business contracts, conducting market research, attending seminars or conferences, participating in other business-related events and taking part in certain social activities in Indonesia.
But this visa has a short time limit. You only have a maximum of 60 days in Indonesia with this visa. Then you can extend it up to 3 times for a maximum of 180 days (6 months).
If you want to stay in Indonesia for longer than that, you need to apply for a KITAS (Limited Stay Permit Visa).
2. Limited Stay Visa (KITAS) for Investing in Indonesia

There are many types of limited stay visa (KITAS) from index C-311 to C-320. However, for business purposes, especially investment in registered companies (should be established as PT PMA) in Indonesia, you need an investment KITAS. This investment KITAS divided into two indexes:
- KITAS C-313
- KITAS C-314
The difference between the two investment KITAS above is the validity period. KITAS index C-313 has a validity period of 1 year, and KITAS C-314 has a validity period of 2 years.
With both of them, you can live in Indonesia, oversee the company’s operations and be officially registered as a shareholder in the company in which you invest.
3.KITAS C-312: Types of Visa for Working in Indonesia
If your company wants to bring in experienced foreign workers from abroad, you can use KITAS index C-312. This visa allows foreign nationals to work and earn money in Indonesia.
KITAS C-312 (working visa) can be valid for periods of 6 months or 12 months, depending on the company, capital investment and the applicant’s qualifications. Then before it expires, you can extend it.
You also need to know that not all foreign workers can be sponsored to work in Indonesia. You need to submit an RPTKA (foreign worker utilization plan) approved by Kementerian Ketenagakerjaan (Ministry of Manpower) as one of the KITAS application processes.
