1. Obtaining a Sponsor
For those who want to apply for a Work KITAS in Indonesia, the first step is to obtain a sponsor from a registered company in Indonesia.
This company must be in the form of a PT (Limited Liability Company), either a PT PMDN (100% local shareholder) or a PT PMA (there is share ownership from foreign investors). You cannot apply for a Work Visa in Indonesia without a sponsor first.
2. Obtaining a Recommendation from BKPM
If you are applying for an Investor KITAS, you must have a recommendation letter from BKPM (Investment Coordinating Board) first. Before applying for a KITAS, the immigration office will first see the recommendation from BKPM

After you have all the requirements from the relevant government agencies, you can apply for VITAS at the Indonesian Immigration. If all processes go smoothly, you will get VITAS. Upon your arrival in Indonesia, you must convert your VITAS to KITAS at the local immigration office within 30 working days from arrival.
5. Sending Reports to the Ministry of Manpower
After the KITAS is issued, the last step that the company needs to do is to send a report on foreign worker payments to the Ministry of Manpower regularly.
